On its 16th anniversary, Biochemia Medica, the journal of the Croatian Society of Medical Biochemists (CSMB), appears festively in the new guise, reflecting the CSMB Main Board and Editorial Board’s tendency to produce a journal that is a novelty not only by its design but also by its quality recognizable among both Croatian and international publications in the field.
With this in mind, we have modified the journal structure, ensured bilingual print, international editorial board and international reviewing, and assigned numerous competencies to the colleagues interested in the work in the journal, in order to achieve regular issuing and quality necessary for the journal to be recognized by secondary publications with bibliography databases (Excerpta Medica, Medline, Current Contents, etc.). The journal will continuously appear in e-form (http://biochemia-medica.hdmb.hr).
Our intention is to offer a journal that will bring the latest concepts and state-of-the-art in our profession through scientific and professional reviews, scientific and professional articles, and case reports. Your opinion on an article or questions related to the profession can be simply communicated by a Letter to the Editor. Each issue will also contain guidelines and/or recommendations by IFCC or other professional associations.
The papers by Croatian authors published in international journals will be presented in the form of abstracts. The journal also provides information on relevant congresses and symposia, and book reviews in medical biochemistry, laboratory medicine and other fields of interest. In order to stimulate young colleagues to write and submit their papers to the journal, we have prepared thorough and easy-to-follow Instructions to Authors, convenient for the true beginners. In addition, a Checklist is provided for the potential authors to ensure they have done everything in compliance with the instructions.
We are committed to grow into the leading journal in the field of medical biochemistry and laboratory medicine in the region; however, it does not depend on us alone but also on the readers of and contributors to the journal. Therefore, you are called herewith to submit your carefully prepared papers as well as critical reviews, thus helping us reach the set goal together.
The CSMB members are invited to refer to us abstracts of their scientific and professional papers that have appeared in international publications indexed in bibliography databases, which will be published in the column entitled Croatian Authors in International Publications.
